Why dryer vent runs here get installed wrong

Most bad vent runs started as a builder shortcut. The duct went out the nearest path, not the shortest one. Foil flex got stuffed behind the machine and crushed when the dryer was pushed tight to the wall. Charlotte's housing stock makes this worse in predictable ways.
